Partnerships and contributors

Many are the supporters of the program that share our vision and believe its realization can be a meaningful turning point to the city and its inhabitants, and to them we owe our gratitude.

  •  Specific decisions regarding Lod’s development were made in the Cabinet but little was put to action. Notable is the former Government Secretary, Zvi Hauser, who was fast to identify the great importance of the development of the ancient city of Lod to the growth of modern city.

  •  The ministry of tourism and the government company for tourism supported the project form its early days.

  •  We also found supporting partners in Lod municipality. Individuals in the municipality, show their support to the project, assisting our efforts in various ways.

  •  A significant contribution to the project comes from the Morning Star Foundation.  Since 2007, the foundation funds an extracurricular program in Lod’s schools that is implemented by the Karev foundation. Numerous schools in the city take part in the program throughout the school year. The activity climax, at the end of the year when over 1000 students from the city of Lod participate each year in the community archaeological excavation.

  • The European Union contributed to the reconstruction of the House of the Arches.

  •  From day one, The Nelson Glueck School of Biblical Archaeology of the Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem, is our partner in managing the community archaeology excavation. The excavation is directed by Dr. Yuval Gadot and Dr. Tawfiq Da’adli

  • A generous donation was received from the Betz Foundation to restore Sebil Sobiech in the southern part of the old city.

  •  Donation was also received from private companies such as: Check Point, Orian, Eastronix, and Microsoft.

  • The brightest spot in Lod is its people; Jewish, Arabs, religious, secular, people born in Israel and recent immigrants, among them are hundreds deeply caring about the future of Lod. Many are the Individuals and organizations active in Lod that aid our efforts. Notable are the Lod Foundation, the Garin Ha’Torani of Lod, Jinda, and ReLod.

The Community Archaeological Project of Ancient Lod could be a turning point not only in the multifaceted and complex city of Lod, but to the entire state of Israel. Lod is a micro-cosmos that remarkably represents the intricacy of life in the Middle-East. We believe the project at Lod can become a model for many other places.

If you share the Project’s vision and if you want to join our many partners in re-establishing Lod’s former glory through a unique process that entails the rehabilitation of the community and the reputation of Lod, please Contact Us.
